The visual design of the architecture, technology, and vehicles—or Industrial Design—within an animated world is crucial for communicating genre, time period, and the society’s technological level. The design of a city’s buildings (sprawling, vertical, or clustered) and the look of its vehicles (sleek, blocky, or organic) are immediate visual cues that tell the audience about the rules and atmosphere of the animated universe. This requires the animator to think like a set designer, architect, and engineer all at once.

Our curriculum integrates basic principles of architecture and design history, training students to create environments and props that are not only visually appealing but also functionally believable within the constraints of the narrative. Students learn to develop design language consistency, ensuring that every object, from a street lamp to a spaceship, visually belongs to the same cohesive universe. This prepares graduates for specialized Prop and Environment Design roles in projects that demand sophisticated, well-thought-out world-building.
